Seatonians Netball Club was started over 25 years ago by Brenda Vail and Brenda Ewen, who just wanted to get fit. The club started with one team in the bottom division of the Tyne and Wear League.
The club now regularly fields 2xU10, 2xU11, 1xU12, 1xU13, IxU16, 1xU19 and 8 Adult teams. The Adult teams play in the Northern League, Regional League and Tyne and Wear Winter and Summer Leagues. Seatonians is the only club ever to achieve 4 Adult teams in Division 1 of Tyne and Wear Leagues. The rules now state all clubs can only have 3 Adult teams in Division 1 and Seatonians are the only club to continue to achieve this. For the last decade Seatonians, a Gold Capped Accredited Club, has dominated top class competition in Tyne and Wear, and has won Division 1 for 11 summer seasons. A mixture of the A and B Squads won the Kukri Regional League in 2007/08 and in the following season won the Northern Clubs League. Our Senior section of the club welcomes every standard of player. Our G and H teams are used to develop our emerging youth players and to help returnees get back into netball. These two teams play in the Whitley Bay Community Floodlit League on Tuesday nights. The club is underpinned by a large Junior Section which is ran by qualified and CRB checked coaches. Our FUNdamentals club takes players from reception and introduces them to balance, co-ordination, agility and throwing and catching skills. As their skills improve we move them on to small sided games and introduce First Step Netball and High 5 Netball. Our U10, U11, U12,U13,U16 and U19 teams play in the Tyne and Wear local Leagues and the Regional Leagues. Last season our U16 squad won the Kukri Regional League and U19 Squad went to the National Clubs Tournament in Blackpool. We encourage our Juniors to progress along the Talent Pathway by attending Satellite, Academy and NTL Trials. At present we have over 14 Junior Players in Tyne and Wear Satellites/Academies. In addition we have 3 Players in the Regional Academy and 2 players in the Northumbria Talent Players Squad. |
